About Therapy

Why would anyone EVER want to come to therapy?!

After all, you’re asked to talk about the worst parts of your life, feel the emotions you’ve been avoiding, and revisit past wounds you’d rather forget.

It’s hard to see the ways you’ve disrespected yourself by staying in relationship with a partner who treats you poorly…

To uncover all the strategies you’ve used to keep yourself small and agreeable in order to maintain friendships…

To recognize that your low self-esteem comes from the way your family treated you when you were young…

But feeling the difficult emotions are worth it!

Revisiting past wounds will allow you to process them fully and free yourself from their emotional stronghold. You will learn to accept the ways your family treated you, separate old messages from your internal voice, and rebuild your self-esteem.

The self-awareness you’ll build will allow you to act from a calm place of choice instead of reacting impulsively (which usually gets you into trouble). You’ll learn to recognize unhealthy relationship dynamics and build the friendships you want in your life.

Reclaiming your emotions will bring you closer to yourself. Emotions can act as a guide to your best life, informing you when to pursue a dream or end a relationship. As you get closer to them, you will learn to follow your intuition and develop the confidence to make the right decisions for yourself.

As a self-proclaimed therapy groupie, my experience has proven that while the process is hard, life gets SO MUCH EASIER on the other side.

What’s it like to work with me?

From reading the pages on my website, you may have figured out that I’m pretty upfront and honest. I like to tell it as it is (in a kind and compassionate way).

If I sense that you’re avoiding an emotion, I’ll help direct you toward it. If it seems like your words don’t match your emotions, I’ll ask about the discrepancy. If it appears that you’re selling yourself short, I’ll challenge you to live up to your full potential.

In our sessions, I will both cheerlead and challenge you. I’ll celebrate the recent breakup with the disrespectful partner, and I’ll encourage you to choose differently next time.

I’ll question the patterns that appear self-destructive, and I’ll help you develop new tools to get more fulfillment out of life.

I’m here to help you feel comfortable enough to get a little uncomfortable, strong enough to go to the places you feel weakest, and honest enough to be honest with yourself.

About Me

Just like you, I’m trying to live my best life.

I’ve devoted myself to becoming the best version of me. Facing old wounds and processing difficult childhood events. Looking at my unhealthy relational patterns, discovering how they were created and once served me, and working hard to build healthier ones. Feeling difficult emotions instead of pushing them away. Following my intuition and living in alignment with my values.

I do a lot of this work in my own weekly therapy. I go camping or hiking when I need to quiet the outside world and turn inward. I attend Burning Man every year, a week-long gathering that offers healing workshops and encourages radical self-expression and creativity, an environment that leads to authenticity and deep connection.

Helping others on their journey of self-discovery…

Somewhere along the way, I discovered that the path toward becoming my best self involved helping others become theirs. I have a knack for reading between the lines and getting to the heart of the issue. I connect easily with people. I care. Being a therapist clearly feels like my life’s work, and I feel passionate about the work I do.

Education and training…

I’m a Naropa University-trained licensed psychotherapist.

I’ve worked at a women’s center, a Medicaid clinic, a ketamine- and cannabis-assisted psychotherapy clinic, and I’ve opened a private practice. All these experiences have brought me a diversity of clientele and an exciting multitude of issues faced by clients.

I have significant experience working with trauma so not much phases me. I’ve learned some pretty rockin’ ways to practice therapy, incorporating the body into my talk therapy sessions, helping people listen not just to their verbal narrative, but also to their intuition and inner knowledge.

Build the life you want…

It can feel daunting to begin this journey, but the first step is always the hardest. If you want to improve your life, the time is now.

I offer a complimentary 20-minute phone consultation, and I’d love to hear from you! Call me at (970) 673-0846.
